Treasure Trove – Our Indo Greek Legacy

Anand Niketan Satellite Campus constantly endeavours for excellence and achievement in myriad fields of life, harbouring the eternal hope that the brightness of education overcomes all darkness.

Panorama, our annual theatrical extravaganza is a culmination of the academic year, a unique celebration of all our successes and failures weaved seamlessly into the fabric of a smorgasbord of aesthetic dramatic and dance performances by the students.

After a long hiatus, this year’s Panorama is a veritable treasure trove, an intriguing unearthing of the glorious history of two magnificent civilizations, India & Greece. Their interaction dates back to antiquity and reveals a plethora of interesting similarities and learning lessons for today’s generation. Our glorious Dastaan-e- Itihaas is essentially an engaging conversation between two stalwarts, Alexander the  Great, a warrior and Acharya Chanakya, a teacher. These two powerful men lived in  two different parts of the world during the same era. They never meet physically but influenced not only each other’s lives, but also had a significant impact on their two nations – Bharat and Greece.

Our magnum opus begins with our rich legacy, the glorious rise and reign of Chandragupta Maurya under the tutelage of the ‘pioneer economist’ Acharya Chankya and the ousting of Alexander the Great from the Indian borders.  One was a born King – Alexander and the other Chandragupta Maurya was made a King.

The saga further reveals how the Hellenistic influence left behind remnants of Greek influence in India, comparing Indian and Greek mythology, culture and social customs.

A celestial ramp walk depicting the eclectic yet similar mythological characters of India and Greece, an interesting jugalbandi of a big fat Indian as well as a Greek wedding culminating with a talk show, reeking of sarcasm that will keep the audience at the edge of their seats are some of the ‘never seen before’ elements that the ANTS are all set to portray on a grand stage with great panache.

The entire narrative of the epic is complemented with background music and dances embellishing it with minute details.

The chronicle, an expert juggling between the ancient era as well as the contemporary times, ends on a positive note, recounting and remembering the tips and strategies left behind by these two great men, original social influencers and the invaluable nuggets of wisdom regarding social, political and economic affairs. The take away of this Dastaan-e-Itihaas is the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam all global citizenship. It also left the audience with a feel good vibe and prove that history remains relevant as well as we keep learning from it.
